Cranbrook Boarding: Your Home Away From Home

Cranbrook School, located four kilometres from the heart of Sydney, is an independent Anglican day and boarding school, offering education from Pre-School to Year 12. Nestled on a beautiful campus overlooking Sydney Harbour, our boarding students benefit from access to exceptional facilities and expansive sporting grounds. Whilst currently a school for boys, our two Pre-Schools are already coeducational and we will be welcoming girls to the Senior School in 2026 for Year 7 and Year 11 with the aim of being fully coeducational by 2029.

At Cranbrook, boarding is more than just a place to stay; it’s a supportive home within an educational environment that fosters creativity and exploration. We are dedicated to providing our students with a comprehensive boarding experience that teaches independence and responsibility, helping them develop into self-assured young men.

Cranbrook has two Boarding Houses, catering to approximately 75 students from Year 7 to Year 12, with a diverse mix of boarders from Sydney, rural Australia, and overseas. Our Boarding Housemasters, who live on site with their families, bring extensive boarding experience and a deep understanding of the pastoral needs of adolescent boys. They are supported by three resident members of the teaching staff, creating a supportive 24/7 environment.

Designed to be a place where boys can work, learn, grow, have fun, and forge lifelong friendships, Cranbrook’s boarding environment is as nurturing as any home. Boarding Housemasters and resident tutors, who are also members of the teaching staff, not only monitor the boarders’ well-being but also form strong relationships with both the boys and their parents.

Our Boarding Houses’ culture is not solely defined by their physical spaces but by how these spaces are used to foster integration, sharing, and a family-like environment that encourages deep bonds.
