Farrer – committed to producing well-educated, skilled, flexible and caring young men

Since its inception in 1939, Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School has earned an enviable reputation as a government day and boarding selective high school with a strong tradition of academic achievement, agricultural excellence and personal development.

Farrer is one of a select group of government Years 7–12 selective high schools in New South Wales, with entry to Year 7 determined through the NSW Selective High School Placement Test.

Set on 191 hectares of prime agricultural land, 10 kilometres from Tamworth, Farrer also owns a 340-hectare farm, Brewongle, at Loomberah, which serves as the base for its Angus breeding stud and provides valuable opportunities for practical agricultural learning.

Farrer is committed to developing thoughtful, well-educated, skilled, adaptable and compassionate young people who are equipped to participate confidently and positively in society.

Providing a safe, supportive and caring environment for our 600 students across both the day and boarding communities is of paramount importance. The school strives to ensure that every student feels valued, respected and supported to achieve their personal best.

Our dedicated staff work to make life at Farrer a happy, rewarding and enriching experience, helping students feel at home in their school community. A strong student welfare team is available to provide guidance, support and encouragement, ensuring that each student has the opportunity to thrive both academically and personally.

The ethos of Farrer centres on students striving to give their best across a wide range of academic, sporting, agricultural and cultural opportunities. Loyalty, respect, trust and responsibility underpin the school’s culture, fostering a strong sense of belonging and creating the lasting friendships, shared experiences and cherished memories that define membership of the Farrer community.
