Advantages of boarding schools in Queensland

Boarding schools certainly provide quality education, no question about that. What’s even better is the fact that when you send your child to one, they’ll also learn essential life skills and values. such as:

Self-reliance and a sense of responsibility

With no parents around to look after them, students learn to be independent and self-reliant. They’ll learn to figure things out on their own or perhaps discover that they can do things they previously thought they couldn’t. It might be something as domestic as doing chores or saving money, perhaps excelling at a new sport or even socialising more with new people.

Strong work ethics

The combination of world-class education—a highly professional and educated staff of teachers—and a new found sense of responsibility and accountability means that boarding students  are naturally inclined to develop a strong work ethic.

Social and communication skills

While students take on a great deal of independence, they also have the opportunity to grow through meaningful interactions with fellow students, teachers and administrators. Along with the typically smaller class sizes particular to boarding schools, students will generally have a greater freedom to communicate their thoughts and ideas.

However, teachers in boarding schools understand that every student is unique. While making friends is easy for some, others may take more time. With the boarding schools in Brisbane, students can look forward to a supportive environment where they can develop mutual respect as they grow together, making it easy for them to thrive in a group environment.

A wider perspective on life

Many boarding schools in Brisbane and Regional Queensland are open to international students, regardless of  their cultural background or religious affiliation. A lot of them welcome primary and secondary boys and girls as well as senior students from a diverse range of different backgrounds. This allows your child to form an early appreciation for cultural diversity and a wider perspective on life.

How much does it cost to send a child to boarding school?

Costs vary from one school to another so it’s best to contact the boarding schools you have your eye on. As a tip, you might want to contact different boarding schools in Brisbane and compare their fees against what they offer. Features like boarding house facilities, scholarship offerings, location and the overall academic programme should always be weighed against what any one particular Brisbane boarding school is looking to charge you. You’ll find more information on fees at Brisbane boarding schools on our Fees Directory page.

To help you decide what’s best for your child (and your family) we have developed a checklist of questions to consider.
