Local Legends Event
Date: Thursday 23 October 6.30pm
Location: Narromine Golf Club
I’m delighted to be part of the Local Legends Event – right here in the Narromine Shire, the place I’ve called home for over 35 years. While my work through the Boarding Schools Expo and now The Boarding Schools Collective takes me all over regional Australia, my heart and energy remain firmly rooted in our local community. From running our family farm and revitalising Trangie’s historic Imperial Hotel, to supporting grassroots projects through the CWA, ICPA and local council partnerships, I’ve seen first-hand how small towns thrive when people invest in them.
At Local Legends, I’ll be sharing my journey of building businesses that balance tradition with innovation, and why I believe community is the most valuable currency we have. Like many of you, I’ve weathered challenges – droughts, shifting markets, temporary roadblocks – but it’s those experiences that strengthen our resolve and remind us what’s worth fighting for.
Joining other local business owners across retail, agriculture, trades and services, I’m excited to celebrate the grit, humour and creativity that define our shire. We all have stories that show the spirit of rural Australia at its best, and I look forward to an evening of honesty, laughter, and inspiration at the Narromine Golf Club.

Quilpie Motherland event
Date: Saturday 11 October
Location: Quilpie
I’m so proud that The Boarding Schools Collective is the Platinum Sponsor of the upcoming Motherland event in Quilpie on 11 October. At our heart, we exist to support mothers, children and families as they navigate the big decision of boarding school – researching options, preparing for transition, and finding community along the way. That’s why, as a business from rural Australia, we feel so closely aligned with Motherland’s mission to empower and connect rural women.
For over two decades, we have travelled into the heart of rural and remote Australia, bringing schools face-to-face with families. We know that nothing replaces the power of real connection – the chance to ask questions, share experiences, and walk away feeling supported and understood.
The Quilpie event is especially meaningful as we officially launch our rebrand: The Boarding Schools Collective. Our new name reflects our purpose more clearly than ever – building a collective of families, schools and communities united by the belief that rural and remote kids deserve every opportunity without their families leaving the places they belong.
I can’t wait to connect with the extraordinary women of Western Queensland, to share stories, celebrate our ability to support each other, and stand together in ensuring brighter futures for our children and stronger futures for our communities.

The School of the EXPO Award celebrates genuine connection between families and schools. Voted on by families attending each event, the award recognises schools that stand out for their friendliness, presentation, and knowledge of boarding life. It’s a fun, interactive way for families – and their children – to engage with the schools in the room, while giving exhibitors valuable feedback on what resonates most. Each winning school receives a free registration for the following year’s Expo in recognition of their excellence.
