Abbotsleigh inspires girls to strive for excellence; we empower our girls to become resilient, independent, confident and compassionate young women who believe they are capable of anything. Respecting diversity and recognising the importance of interdependence, we challenge each girl to develop her unique passions and talents, while valuing those of others.

At the forefront of education trends
At Abbotsleigh, we deliver a deeper learning that educates and empowers the whole girl, so that she can unleash her potential within and beyond the classroom.

We teach our girls to ask questions, grapple with ideas, debate, take risks and reflect on their learning. Abbotsleigh girls learn how to delve deeply, solve difficult problems and develop sophisticated, conceptual understanding.

Our teachers are dedicated, talented and committed to being the best educators they can be, while the girls are committed to striving for their personal best and being the best young woman that they can be. Through education, women can do and be anything.

Wellbeing of students
We understand and recognise the inseparable connection between wellbeing, learning and academic success. We know that wellbeing sits at the heart of effective learning and is an integral part of high quality education. Through our Wellbeing Framework, we strive to enhance each girl’s academic, social, emotional, spiritual and physical wellbeing from Pre-K through to Year 12. Abbotsleigh girls are curious and they love learning. Alongside their studies, the girls participate in a strong wellbeing program that aims to foster optimism, health, confidence and resilience. The girls balance their lives with a vast range of extra-curricular activities, including music, sport, drama, debating, robotics, social justice clubs and the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, to name but a few.

Boarding at Abbotsleigh
Abbotsleigh has a long and proud tradition of boarding dating back to 1885. Today, we have approximately 120 boarders who hail from a range of locations, nationally and internationally. Our boarders are an integral part of the Abbotsleigh community, providing diversity of character adding to the rich tapestry that is Abbotsleigh.

Abbotsleigh boarding is a place where the girls develop independence as well as leadership, collaborative and communication skills that prepare them for life beyond school.
