Columba Catholic College: College Life

For over 140 years, Columba Catholic College has offered an outstanding student experience, encouraging students to be the best they can be with Courage, Commitment and Compassion. Our mission is to ensure that each student is known, cared for and respected. 

It is an old fashioned term to say that boarders are the heart and soul of any school which offers residential facilities, but nonetheless, it still describes very well the sense of participation and pride which boarders feel for their College – whether it is during the school day, or whether it is in enjoying their ‘big backyard’. Boarders are part of the College 24/7 and as such they participate in everything which occurs during the school year.

Generally boarders enjoy being boarders. There are some for whom it is a struggle, but they can usually find something in the wide range of opportunities available which boarding provides to enable them to enjoy their day, and to move forward and grow into fine young women and men.

Boarding at Columba Catholic College not only provides students with the opportunity to grow up with children their own age, but it also affords them the opportunity to interface with a variety of adults whose life experiences, pastoral care, and professional training enable them to provide your son or daughter with constant, safe, and nurturing care.

Girls

Girls reside at St Mary’s campus which is closer to the centre of town and attend school on the Mount Carmel campus. The campus is beautifully landscaped, there’s a pool and garden area which is very relaxing, and the accommodation boasts a modern boarding facility with plenty of space for students to find their spot in boarding.

Boys

Boys live on the Mt Carmel campus with its myriad of sporting facilities, open spaces, a working farm, pool, well equipped gym and boarding facilities which are as good as any in Queensland.
