Developing Courageous Women of Action

St Vincent’s College is one of Australia’s oldest and most enduring educational communities for girls in Years 7-12, day and boarding. Founded by the Sisters of Charity in 1858, it is a College very proud of its heritage and confident and excited by the constantly evolving educational environment it operates within as an independent Catholic College. Taking full advantage of its inner-city location, the College aspires to educate and nurture students who are independent in thought, compassionate in attitude and confident to act.

Boarding is at the heart of St Vincent’s College and students are drawn from across NSW. Boarders bring a wide and diverse variety of life experiences to the College and are welcomed into a community where friendships created last a lifetime. St Vincent’s College is committed to ensuring girls have plenty of bedroom space in twin and single rooms. There are no dormitories in the Boarding House. Each Year group is under the care of a dedicated Boarding Co-ordinator whose primary role is the spiritual, pastoral, physical and academic well-being of each boarder.

St Vincent’s caters to diverse learners requiring extra support or academic enrichment and offers a broad range of subjects and a comprehensive co-curricular program with an integrated social justice domain. Our pastoral care program is integrated with our academic care and is pivotal to our flourishing Vinnies culture. Our contemporary approach to the education of 21st Century girls sees our graduates transition beyond their secondary years with an appreciation for the advantages of their education but without a sense of entitlement, well prepared to be courageous women of action.

“The ‘Vinnies spirit’ that the girls carry in their hearts and minds is almost impossible to define, but it is tangible and has passed from cohort to cohort over the long history of this, one of Australia’s oldest educational institutions. It seems to me it is about being confident, comfortable, courageous and compassionate.” Mrs Anne Fry, Principal
